Job Description / Duties

What you will do:

Under the general direction of the Associate Director, Residence Operations, the Residence Manager is responsible for all aspects of the housing operation of the Lakeshore Campus student residence. The Residence Manager is responsible for ensuring that our diverse and dynamic living environment is safe, secure and conducive to study for both students and transient summer conference clients. This includes working closely with Residence Life and other campus partners to provide support for a full and integrated residence life program for students. The incumbent will participate in an after-hours on-call rotation and will lend support to the broader residence operation at Humber.



Establish & maintain a living environment conducive to learning:

Manage all aspects of Lakeshore residence operations including the admissions process, room assignments, occupancy rate management, fee collection, front desk services, summer hotel operations;
Responsible for maintaining and implementing changes to the residence-based software, including the residence management system and portal;
Oversee contract services to ensure that the best interests of the residence are being met;
Develop & manage annual operating budgets;
Establish & foster a positive customer service-based culture with a strong focus on equity, diversity and inclusion;
Develop and oversee residence policies;
Orchestrate the successful move-in & orientation of students each fall & transition each spring to hotel accommodations, while ensuring maximum occupancy;
Manage projects with internal and external stakeholders using a student-centered approach to contribute to the overall improvement and efficiency of the residence operations and facilities
Human resource management & development:

Manage a diverse team of full and part time personnel to ensure a high level of performance through effective recruitment, selection, training, motivation, professional development & evaluation;
Ensure that staff have been trained in established emergency response procedures;
Provide after-hours support to a 24-hour operation, including responding to after-hours phone calls for North & Lakeshore residences in an on-call rotation

Qualifications / Required Skills

What you bring to the role:

Education

The successful candidate will hold a three year diploma/degree in a relevant field, along with a minimum of four years of relevant experience.
Experience

Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
Excellent problem solving/conflict resolution skills
Superior judgment and decision-making skills
Experience training, supervising and motivating a diverse team
Strong budget management skills
An aptitude for managing a variety of processes and software systems
Understanding of regulatory requirements for housing, including Building and Fire Codes, W.H.M.I.S., the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Human Rights legislation and AODA
Experience working with StarRez is considered an asset.

Salary: Position Type FT Administration, Minimum Salary 81,106.00, and Maximum Salary 121,659.00
